A propos Anne-Laure Briatte

Anne-Laure Briatte, agrégée d’allemand, docteure en études germaniques et en histoire, est maîtresse de conférences en histoire et civilisation allemandes à l’université de Paris-Sorbonne. Elle fait partie de l’équipe « Mondes germaniques » de SIRICE (UMR 8138), du groupe de recherche « Genre & Europe » du LabEx « Écrire une histoire nouvelle de l’Europe » (LabEx EHNE) et du réseau DFG international « Gender – Nation – Emancipation. Women and Families in the ‘long’ Nineteenth Century in Italy and Germany ». Ses travaux portent sur les féminismes allemands aux XIXe et XXe siècles et sur la dimension de genre en politique. Elle est notamment l’auteure de Citoyennes sous tutelle. Le mouvement féministe "radical" dans l'Allemagne wilhelmienne, Berne, Peter Lang, 2013. Elle a également dirigé un dossier de recherche sur « les femmes dans la vie politique allemande depuis 1945 », paru dans la revue Allemagne d’aujourd’hui, n° 207 (2014). Actuellement, elle travaille sur l'occupation française en Allemagne après 1945 vue à travers le prisme du genre.

Rencontre inaugurale de Genre en Germ’

Dans le cadre des travaux menés pour le numéro thématique « Ce que le genre fait aux études germaniques » (Allemagne d’aujourd’hui, n° 237, juillet-septembre 2021), l’idée a été lancée parmi les participant.es d’organiser des rencontres annuelles entre les germanistes travaillant sur le genre (et champs annexes), ou souhaitant le faire à l’avenir, afin de pérenniser les échanges et de favoriser l’émergence de projets ou de collaborations nouvelles.

La rencontre inaugurale de “Genre en Germ'”, le réseau de germanistes travaillant sur le genre en France, se tiendra au Campus Condorcet, le 13 janvier 2023. Les chercheuses et chercheurs invité.e.s présenteront des recherches en cours, les résultats d’un article déjà paru ou à paraître, un ouvrage, un appel à communication ou un projet, ou encore d’échanger autour de concepts, d’outils méthodologiques, de textes ou de problèmes rencontrés.

Am 19. Januar 1919 konnten Frauen erstmals auf nationaler Ebene in Deutschland das Wahlrecht ausüben. Nach heftig geführten Auseinandersetzungen war damit ein wichtiges Ziel des »radikalen« Flügels der Frauenbewegung des Deutschen Kaiserreichs erreicht. Anne-Laure Briatte zeichnet die bislang vernachlässigte Geschichte dieses Zweiges der deutschen Frauenbewegung nach, der sich um die Hauptakteurinnen Minna Cauer, Anita Augspurg und Lida Gustava Heymann gruppierte. Ihre Analyse der Kämpfe der »linken« Frauenrechtlerinnen, ihrer Erfolge und ihres Scheiterns schließt eine große Lücke in der Erforschung der deutschen Frauenbewegung.

About the book

On 19 January 1919 women were able to exercise the right to vote for the first time at national level in Germany. After fierce disputes, an important goal of the “radical” wing of the women’s movement in the German Empire had thus been achieved. Anne-Laure Briatte traces the hitherto neglected history of this branch of the German women’s movement, which was grouped around the main protagonists Minna Cauer, Anita Augspurg and Lida Gustava Heymann. Her analysis of the struggles of “left-wing” women’s rights activists, their successes and failures, closes a large gap in research on the German women’s movement.

Gender Relationships between Occupiers and Occupied
during the Allied Occupation of Germany after 1945

 

This international workshop aims at exploring the various modalities of non-voluntary cohabitation implied by the Allied military occupation in defeated Germany after 1945. In everyday life military occupation covered a wide range of interactions from protection to violence between mostly male occupiers, considered the winners, and holders of many privileges, against the occupied of both sexes, defeated and in a situation of legal, economic, as well as moral inferiority. The relationships between occupiers and the occupied ranged from enmity to intimacy and affected gender roles in several ways. Gender relationships were thus at the very heart of ongoing explicit and implicit renegotiation of these power struggles.

L’Europe n’a pas que des « pères fondateurs ». Dès l’entre-deux-guerres, des femmes apparaissent aux côtés des européistes convaincus. Animées par un ardent espoir pacifiste ou féministe, elles collaborent à ce qui a pu apparaître comme une utopie avant de se muer en une extraordinaire aventure.
Historien.ne.s, sociologues, politistes, juristes, germanistes, les auteur.e.s de l’ouvrage se sont demandé ce que l’Europe a fait pour les femmes et inversement. Quel rôle jouèrent les femmes dans la conception et la réalisation du projet, dans l’administration européenne, au Parlement européen ? Quel fut l’impact de la féminisation des institutions ? Quelles ont été les stratégies, à partir d’un seul article dans le traité de Rome (art. 119), pour faire de l’égalité des sexes une valeur commune et fondamentale sur laquelle construire l’Europe ?
Le projet européen fut un moteur pour l’émancipation des femmes. Plus progressiste que la plupart des politiques nationales, la politique communautaire d’égalité hommes-femmes a souvent été l’aiguillon des procédures égalitaires dans les États membres. Inspiratrices ou « petites mains » indispensables, interprètes, fonctionnaires ou parlementaires européennes, des femmes ont contribué à faire de la question de l’égalité un levier majeur de l’Europe sociale. L’ouvrage aborde ainsi de nombreuses perspectives novatrices, analyse les réussites mais aussi les échecs et s’interroge sur leurs causes.
